a lil mother's day adventure

‘Our House’ block # 1
…purple Minky door…haven’t decided if I’ll be embroidering a door knob yet or adding lace curtains…depends how bored I get…used a wee piece of sock monkey fabric so someone would be peeking out of the window…figure I’ll put someone peeking out all the windows! I’d love to make a signature block with the lyrics to the song by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young…that would be so cool…but bummer my printer is a laser printer and I don’t think I can cram treated fabric through it…Oh well…any who this block is 8.5X8.5 inches square…paper pieced by hand… House paper piece pattern located at: http://www.connectingthreads.com/patterns/House_Keepsake_Frame_Card... free! 5-13-12 see accomplished something on Mother’s day!

Tabitha found a super tiny freshly hatch painted turtle walking across a parking lot and brought him/her tome to set free…Olie Liv and I went for a walk in the grave yard where there’s a creek that flows into aswamp…the creek was much easier to get to than the swamp itself… you really can’t tell from the photosbut this little guy is about the size of a 50 cent piece…very wee but stinking adorable! When I put him in the water he looked around for a bit before starting down the creek in the right direction…too cute! 5-13-12

Down the hill where the creek was there was all sorts of broken statuary from the graves…rather sad thatloved ones would bring this and have it end up thrown down a hill…this was probably a lovely angel at one time, about a foot tall…

Olie found a circle of headstones broken and discarded…where are the people that these belong above? Sigh…Olie found this very sad…

Olivia on the other hand…all grins when her brother was driving her silly all the way home…she liked it when he would drive like a snake…back and forth…

ready for rainy day sewing

While awaiting the arrival of the Kaffe Fassette fabric (ooh pins and needles) I’ve gather some fun flannels and Minky to make noisy lovies for the 2 up and coming baby showers.

This bit of yumminess if for Cherish whose shower is on the 20th of this month.  Since I know she’s a she I thought lime backing would be dandy with the pink with frogs and blue with turtles.  I’ll be putting a squeaker in one corner and a rattle in the other and a few sheets of cellophane in the middle for some crinkle.

This bright eye catcher is for the shower on the 23rd of June for a baby whose sex hasn’t been let out of the bag yet…figured orange; bugs and bright purple will fit either version of human… I’ll be putting a squeaker in one corner and a rattle in the other and a few sheets of cellophane in the middle for some crinkle.

Bought a thread burner to melt the ends of the ribbons all professional like…I’ll leave one loop on each lovie to add a plastic ring so these lovies can be hooked onto a car seat, stroller or what ever…

This is Olivia’s noisy lovie…I didn’t have any cellophane at the time so it’s not quite as noisy as it could be and she loves the crinkle noise…
Finished they are 18 inches square not counting the ribbons and prairie points poking out…flannel on one side and Minky on the other so the wee ones get the total tactile and sound entertainment in on soft package…
